PenfoldsWell the Holidays are fast approaching and if you are like the Wine Witch you are probably in a panic for some last minute gifts.  I am here to help.  This week look for several posts on what to get the wine enthusiasts on your list.

Wine is, of course, an obvious choice which the Wine Witch will deal with in a future entry.  Here let’s talk about gadgets, accessories, and whimsies.  These are items that will delight the recipent, but things they may not spend their own money on.

The first two items were covered in previous posts: the magnetic wine collar found at  http://winewitch.net/wine-musings/105/magnetic-wine-collar-make-your-two-buck-chuck-taste-like-a-reserve/ ; and, the ideal picnic wine glasses found at http://winewitch.net/wine-musings/123/picnic-perfect-plastic/.  No need to rehash the information here since you can read the posts directly.

I became aware of something called the Vinturi.  This is a gadget you stick into a wine bottle that aerates the wine as it is poured into the glass or decanter.  Regular decanting does the same thing, but it really takes 30 minutes for the wine to properly breathe.  The results here are immediate.  I do not decant a lot of wine to make an absolute comparison.  However, there is a definite difference in the same bottle of wine before and after the Vinturi.  It sells for less than $35 so it is priced right.

At every price range there are wine glass charms, themed wine stoppers, “rabbit” style openers, and tote bags.  For the wine lover who is also crafty there are also kits to make trivets or bulletin boards out of corks.  A great way to save memories of great moments celebrated with wine.

Two great sources for this stuff are The Wine Enthusiast www.wineenthusiast.com and Amazon www.amazon.com.   Log on and explore.

Cheers!

Suzie the Wine Witch

Suzie, the Wine Witch considers herself an enthusiastic amateur in the world of wine. She contends that nobody is born with a silver palate. In the beginning Suzie and her husband saved Lancer's Rose for a special night wine. She learned about wine by drinking it and making good friends with her local wine merchant. Suzie's wine adventure is guided by the following principles: * Life is too short to drink bad wine * You do not have to spend more than $15 for good wine * There are no rules - drink what you want when you want * Wine is to be enjoyed and not hoarded * Wine tastes better when shared with special peopleFull Profile
