Blackstone is another very reliable and widely available California producer. They cover most of the major varietals. While
Sonoma is the base of their first label, they also have a presence in Monterey county. Everyone thinks of Napa and Sonoma as the heart of the California wine industry, but the Central Coast is certainly up and coming. In the Wine Witch’s opinion Chardonnay seem to work best here.
The 2006 Blackstone Monterey Chardonnay is the expected gold in the glass with tropical fruit aromas. The tropical fruit is joined by some lively lemon peel upon first taste. The oak is tame and toasty. A nice surprise is a touch of minerality like you find in a French Chablis. The wine is nicely balanced and lingers on.
The Blackstone Chardonnay is a good choice with white meat and medium aged cheeses.

I’ve heard of this brand… but I can’t find it anywhere. Oh well that’s why God invented the internet.
