Back to back 5 ratings – this is first for the Wine Witch. I love, love, LOVE this wine. Torrontes is a white wine from Argentina. It is a very distinctive wine you are either going to love or hate. Torrontes is a very aromatic, fresh wine with lots of flavors going on.
The 2007 Bodega Poesia Torrontes positively assaults your nose with layers of flowers (roses, honeysuckle) and tropical fruits (pineapple, lychee). It keeps going full throttle when you taste it. At first you go “oh no, this is going to be sweet” but it really isn’t. It is bright and zingy with a bit of spicy nutmeg. It has a core of refreshing acidity which cuts through all the other noise and keeps it in check. A wonderful foil for chicken, fish, and ethnic cuisine. However, the Wine Witch loves it so much, she would much rather drink it all by itself.
This Torrontes from Bodega Poesia could easily be the best $10 bottle of white wine the Wine Witch has had to date. Buy and serve it to your friends. They will think you are terribly sophisticated.
