Bogle is another reliable California winery offering very good wines at very good prices. One of my favorites is the 2005 Petite Sirah.
Inky does not begin to describe this wine. Hold it up to the light. Barely any light shines through. The nose has the expected black cherry aromas along with a bit of black pepper. It has a full mouth feel and a good balance between fruit and oak. The flavor is very jammy, but more boysenberry than cherry. The tannins are firm, but not unpleasant.
The Bogle Petite Sirah would go well with rich meat dishes, especially winter stews. It has enough structure to last for quite awhile, but is very drinkable now.

I can’t wait to try this. Do you think this wine would work with turkey? (I’m already thinking about Thanksgiving.) Also is there any dessert wine you would recommend with pumpkin mousse or pumpkin pie?
I am going to write more about this in a Wine Musings Posting. This wine could totally go with your turkey dinner – DEPENDING ON THE FLAVORS IN ALL THE SIDES. If your total feast tends towards the New England or Mid-West tradtions, the Bogle Petite Sirah is a good choice. If you have Sourthwestern or ethnic sides and spicing, I don’t think so.
As far as the pumpkin desert pairings, I am not sure you need a spcifically desert wine. I would recommend a German Reisling. Light in alcohol and fruit flavors, which is a good thing after a heavy meal.
