There really is a Bohemian Highway. It is a 10 mile stretch of road in Napa Valley running parallel between Highways 1 and 101. Lots of New Agey spas and organic farms located there as well as Bohemian Highway Winery. They produce all the standard varietals at a less than $10 price point.
The 2005 Bohemian HighwayMerlot is not bad – but is not great. It is a everyday pizza sort of wine and it is hard to go wrong for 8 bucks. I have had wines at twice the price that I have liked less. It is on the purple end of the spectrum with plum aromas. It is a bit firm for a Merlot, but opens up a tad with some air. The wood is evident in some vanilla notes along with a little burnt sugar. The predominant flavors are plum and blackberries.
The 2005 Bohemian Highway Merlot is cheap, reliable and would go well with some pasta and sausage.
