dancing Dancing Bull Sauvignon Blanc 2008 California $10 12 wine reviewsSauvignon Blanc is a wine that is hard to be indifferent to – it just always kinda smacks you in the face.  You gotta like citrus (maybe even citrus peel) and grass or herbs.  If you don’t – stay away.  As you know there is nothing too subtle about the Wine Witch.  I happen to luv Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2008 Dancing Bull Sauvignon Blanc is a nice one for the price.  Dancing Bull is part of E.J. Gallo’s mega wine concern.  Until recently it went under the Rancho Zabaco name, but now stands on its own.  It also has a screw cap which is the appropriate closure for value whites.

The wine is a pale straw color in the glass with a little green around the edges.  There is pink grapefruit in the nose and first taste impression.  It is a pretty racy wine with a bit of spritz on the tongue.  The grapefruit is joined by some lime and green apple.  There is the characteristic grassiness in the middle through the finish.  It is crisp, crisp, crisp.

As spring comes into full bloom the 2008 Dancing Bull Sauvignon Blanc, while not a great wine, is certainly one worth seeking out.
