Take a look at the bottle on the right. The name and the bottle certainly do not suggest France – Languedoc Roussillon to be exact. When I first picked up this bottle I assumed it was from California. The French almost always name their wines by place and do not employ clever monikers. It sounded like it might be fun.
Unfortunately, I did not particularly care for this wine. It is a 2006 which might be getting on a bit for a white wine not meant to age, but I do not think that was the issue. It was just a pretty boring wine. Nothing particularly wrong – just not anything particularly right. Lemon and green apple detected in the nose and taste. What I did not like was a slightly bitter aftertaste and, I know this will sound weird, but a salty edge. Bottomline – you can do a lot better for $10.
