hogues-chenin.jpgChenin Blanc is an oftern overlooked varietal lost in all the popularity for Chardonnays and Savignon Blancs.  This is a very versatile grape that can makes wines from crisp, to sparkling, to nectar-like desert.  I do no understand why it is not more popular.

Hogue is another absolutely reliable Washington estate that makes great valued wines.  This Chenin Blanc is no exception.  The color is a pale gold and it has a medium mouth feel.  At first sip you think it might be sweet, but it definitely finishes dry.  My first impression is lemon peel, melon, and a hint of honey, but then there is a plesant snap of green apple.

A super value at under $10.  Great to sip on its own and a good partner to most ethnic cuisines. Meant to be enjoyed young.
