sparkling rose wine Jacobs Creek Sparkling Rose NV Australia $12 wine reviewsThe Wine Witch has been on the road the last two weeks for my day job (which unfortunately has NOTHING to do with wine), so I am a little behind in my postings.  Hopefully you have been enjoying the dispatches from our newest contributor, Lisa Scott.  Lisa’s perspective is value priced wines that have a eco-friendly slant.  Welcome, Lisa!

Anyway, my husband and I shared a bottle of the Jacobs Creek Sparkling Rose on Valentine’s Day.  I know – just too precious for words, but if there was ever an occasion for pink bubbles, Valentine’s Day is it.   Long story short – we liked it a lot.

Jacobs Creek is Australia’s largest wine producer and one of the few at these prices that does not put a critter on its label.  The NV Sparkling Rose is a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir,  which are the mainstays of French Champagne.  The Pinot Noir contributes pronounced cherry aromas and flavors, while the Chardonnay gives it a bit of depth and roundness.

Be warned – you will never confuse this sparkler with French Champagne.  It is fruit foward and a bit off-dry with refined to almost light bubbles.  However, there is always room for a wine that is pure pink, fizzy fun.

In the beginning Suzie and her husband saved Lancer's Rose for a special night wine. She learned about wine by drinking it and making good friends with her local wine merchant. Suzie's wine adventure is guided by the following principles: * Life is too short to drink bad wine * You do not have to spend more than $15 for good wine * There are no rules - drink what you want when you want * Wine is to be enjoyed and not hoarded * Wine tastes better when shared with special peopleFull Profile
