Kenwood is a well respected California winery. This Sauvignon Blanc is from their Sonoma County label. They do have a Reserve, but way more bang for the buck here. This is by far their most popluar wine and deservedly so because it is one of their best.
The 2007 Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc is blended from grapes grown in 5 different regions of the county. This requires some art on the part of the vintner and it shows. You know I am a fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. They are very exuberant – real parties wines. The California style is a bit more restrained, but lovely none the less. This is a perfect example of the California style.
The aromas are of fresh cut grass and melon. It is very bright and clean in the mouth tasting of honeydew melon and a bit of peach. It has a medium finish. The Wine Witch’s very sophisticated opinion – yummy.
One of the hardest food and wine pairings are salads and vegetables – the flavors just seem to clash. The Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc will actually pair quite nicely with these higher acid foods.
