kim_crawford_sauvignon_blanc_2005.jpgThis wine is the favorite of my daugther in law.  We turned her on to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and this one quickly rose to the top of her list.  I like this wine a lot, but when it comes to N. Z. S. B. I am not always looking for subtle.  I want it to come out swinging from the first sip.  See some of my other reviews for wines that fall into this camp.

This is good stuff with a more refined style.  When you look at it, there is a bit of a green cast to the color.  The green theme carriers over to the first sniff which is definitely grassy.  After that comes the tropical fruit.  I would call this a balanced wine, neither sweet nor particularly dry.  There is a very subtle touch of herbs in the taste, but the main flavor is passionfruit.

Other than slabs of red meat, this wine would go well with most foods.  What is very good here is that it pairs well with things like asparagus and salads which are difficult to marry up with wine.

This would be a great hostess gift which will impress.

Thanks for the tip. The Kim Crawford was excellent! $14.99 earned us a wine with a crisp and refreshing taste. The aroma and taste were indeed tropical with a twist of perhaps apple. Kiwi was air apparent from the time you cracked the top, and the taste lived up to the fantastic scent. Didn’t pair it with anything this time around, but will definitely purchase it again!
