kono Kono Sauvignon Blanc 2008 New Zeland <$10 wine reviewsI can just hear you now – Not another N.Z. Sauvignon Blanc!  Doesn’t she drink anything else?  Well I do, as the 200 or so posts I have made suggest.  But the Wine Witch must admit she is drawn to N.Z. Sauvignon Blanc like a moth to a flame.  They are just sooo much fun!  Again, I’m basically a peasant.  Most times I like my wine to hit me over the head.

I always get excited when I come across a New Zeland Sauvignon Blanc I have not yet tried, especially one for under $10.  Last week my hubby and I tried the 2008 Kono  and really liked it.  The nose is guava and honeysuckle.  It is very pale with a bit of green around the edges.  The flavor profile is white peaches with a bit of lime zest.  It has a really bracing acidity with a long, clean finish.  There is a lot going on for the money.

If you are a fan of Monkey Bay, try the 2008 Kono Sauvignon Blanc.  The same exuberance for a few bucks less.
