Value priced Pinot Noirs are an elusive beast. Pinot Noir is a somewhat delecate, labor intensive grape which contributes to the higher price point. It is a treat to find a good one for $10.
The color is garnet red with medium intensity. The nose is cherry jam which you expect in Pinot Noir. On the palate the cherry is joined by strawberry, but then segues into plum with a hint of spice and smoke. This is by no means a complex wine. However, it is very approachable and a real crowd pleaser.
The 2006 Pepperwood Grove Pinot Noir is a very versatile wine that would go with a wide range of dishes. It is a good choice to go with cheese. It would also be compatible with most meat dishes from chicken to roast beef. This is a good one to have on hand for unexpected guests.

Hi Wine Witch.
First off, love your site and wish you the best of luck with it.
Second, can you recommend some kosher wines that don’t suck? I know they’ve got to be out there, I just haven’t found the right one yet. Besides, if I have to stomach one more glass of Kedem or Manischevitz this year on Passover I’m going to kill myself.
L’chaim!
This wine sounds awesome. Do you have any cheese recommendations to go with this?
