trapichemerlot Trapiche Merlot 2006 Argentina wine reviewsTrapiche is a widely available, value producer of wines from Argentina.  The 2006 Merlot is a good example of their product.

It is a deep garnet in the glass with a nose of ripe cherries.  It is a medium bodied wine and the tannins are quite soft.  The finish is not particularly long, but it stays with you enough.  The fruit is foward and there is little bell pepper going on.

The 2006 Trapiche Merlot would be a good match for Southern (tomato based) Italian dishes.  It is a nice, reliable wine that does not hurt the pocketbook too much.
